Industrial
Hygiene
AEC's
Industrial Hygiene services include the identification, evaluation, and
control of chemical and physical hazards. Industrial hygiene
projects are most commonly performed in the identification, sampling,
management, and abatement of asbestos-containing materials and
lead-based paint. AEC’s industrial hygiene personnel are also
available to provide on-site evaluation of employee or tenant exposure
to airborne dust and vapor contaminants, hazardous and explosive gases
and vapors, non-ionizing radiation, noise, and vibration. AEC can
evaluate the effectiveness of existing engineering and administrative
controls, and will assist facility engineers or property owners/managers
and health and safety specialists in complying with applicable
regulations. From determination of the scope of services to report
review, senior-level personnel are involved to ensure the quality of
AEC's services. AEC industrial hygiene capabilities include the

Studies
The
industrial hygienists on AEC’s team have conducted monitoring projects
in a wide variety of occupational settings. Projects are typically
performed following the NIOSH Manual of Analytical Methods for sampling,
when possible, or the specific OSHA standard. Surveys are designed
to achieve the results the Client requires, i.e., full-shift
8-hour time-weighted average (
TWA
) exposures versus short-term ambient area air sampling. Based on
the results of sampling surveys, the industrial hygienists are able to
offer recommendations to decrease employee and tenant exposures, if
necessary.
